Oct 16

Apple.com had a cat nap for an hour or two this evening and when she woke she announced the release date for Leopard.

OS X Leopard can be pre-ordered now for the full sum of €129.

I’m going to wait until I upgrade the RAM on my Macbook before plunging for Leopard. Coincidentally, I ordered two new iMacs for work on Thursday. I was half tempted to wait until Leopard was released before ordering but it’s probably best to use the tried and tested Tiger for development work rather than entering the unknown.

A few weeks ago we took Leopard for a spin, check out the Leopard Preview.

If you buy a qualifying Mac on or after October 1st which doesn’t come with Leopard, Apple will send you an upgrade for €8.95. There’s more information here: http://www.apple.com/ie/macosx/uptodate/

Yeah, I saw that last night. Happy days.

I’ve been given serious consideration to getting an iMac, but I want to get rid of my HP Desktop first. As soon as I find a buyer, it’s gone, and I’ll be Windows free!

Damn! I bought my Mac back in August, so I’ll have to pay full whack for the upgrade :(

  5. Cormac Says:

The full whack isn’t that much though in fairness. How much do MS charge for an upgrade from XP to Vista? It’s probably at least twice the €129 Apple are charging (and it’s crap, as in Vista is crap)

  6. Michele Says:

Maybe, but I’d be covered by the company’s subscription :)
