A yes, the bible that is Google. Goglble?
Live and learn is the only way Francis.

The thing I love about Macs and Apple software in general is the 'if you think it should do this, then it probably does it' philosophy.

I will look up the Microsoft email address tomorrow in work.

Cormac,

Was there a particular person/email address you chased Microsoft on - I have a little undirected frustration I could send in their direction over the non-appearance of my Vista CD.

Regarding ease-of-use in Mac OSX, I cannot only say the following: it is very rare that I consider buying a book a waste of money, but while awaiting delivery of my Mac, I picked up "The Missing Manual - Mac OSX Tiger Edition"; I don't think I've flicked through it more than once or twice in the past 15 months. (I found the other "Missing Manual" I read to be fantastic - "Google Edition")

Cheers Paul,
I would strongly recommend the change over.

Macs can run Windows/Linux both as a dual boot and via parallels. http://www.parallels.com/

You get the best of both worlds and you are using superior hardware. Leopard should be out near the end of the year so maybe then would be a good time to upgrade..

I need to start blogging more on here..

Good stuff Cormac ! I've been thinking of doing the change soon, maybe for my next computer which is due in 6-12 months. It will be interesting to hear about your changeover.

All the best with the new site too !

Eoin, what would happen when web 3.0 became more mainstream?
I would have to register mcblogrz or something. Yikes!
Plus Google will through up a 'did you mean mac blogger' message on occasions.

Francis,
I agree about the speed and the do it better points. Totally. I had concerns about a year ago about switching to Mac due to software issues but I haven't come across a single instance where there was no Mac alternative. I would actually say that software in general runs better on Mac.

I got my free Vista and Office CDs only after chasing them up a few times about it. I have Vista dual booted on my iMac. Never really use it. I took a look at it at and said 'meh', back to OSX.

Thanks for visiting guys :)

Cormac,

I've about a year's headstart on you, but I changed to Mac for exactly the same reasons - the "family" PC is still available when I need it, but I've found the Mac can do everything I ask of it, quicker and easier than Windows.

p.s: did you apply for the free copy of Vista that Microsoft promised the attendees at Croke Park? Still waiting myself - my curiousity would force me to try dual-booting my Mac...
